Raimondi, Marcantonio
(1475 near Bologna- 1534 Bologna) (Italy)
   Engraver. Known to have worked in Venice and Florence, but achieved his fame in Rome. Later in his career he was in Bologna where his fortunes diminished. He produced the I Modi, sixteen erotic engravings derived from paintings by Romano which were based on a series of erotic poems by Aretino. He was imprisoned by Pope Clement VII for "obscene works."
